Having watched and enjoyed the movie “Kinky Boots” at least twice I thought it would be fun to go and see the musical that was now playing on Broadway at Stage 42. The musical had a large number of songs and dances that were not in the movie. However the story was the same. A very loud rousing performance much enjoyed by the audience. The people sitting next to me were from Ireland but had no idea what the musical was about before they came.
There are many lines in the script - mostly spoken or sung by Lola that resonate with to-days attitudes to inclusiveness for all types of identities that some people choose to-day.
Lola was played by Callum Francis who is a British Actor and has played the role on three continents across five companies.
