After five days in New York it was time to move on to board the Queen Mary for a seven days transatlantic luxury ferry ride! I realize I have only stayed in the center of New York City. It has been great to be able to stay for a short time in one of the greatest cities in the world.
Highlights
Being able to attend a live performance of Tosca at the Metropolitan Opera.
Staying five minutes walk from the Lincoln Center and the Opera house.
The 9/11 museum.
One World Observatory.
Two warm sunny days out of five!
Getting around on the subway.
The convenience and cost of staying at the YMCA.
Using WISE as an alternative to a credit card. Being able to tap, even on subway, with Apple Watch using WISE.
Feeling safe on the streets with many tourists and multiethnic people who work in NYC. They like to be known as Black and Brown people.
It was helpful to have plans made ahead allowing adequate rest time appropriate for age!
Lowlights
Three days of rain and am glad I brought any umbrella.
Eating out is expensive particularly when one converts to $CDN.
YMCA a bit grotty but safe and clean where needed.
