Times Square

 It was about thirty minutes walk to Times Square which everyone knows from the ceremony on the first day of every year. 

You get a good feel for what a complex city New York is by walking the streets. 

Some may wonder about safety but it does not seem to worry people. There are a mass of tourists in town at present.

I took some video and will try an post it but have found it may not work.
