A surprise concert

It is Day two of my visit to New York City. It has been raining a lot and it is cold 10C - the remnants of Hurricane Ian. The  weather will improve in the next few days.

Since I was staying very close to the Lincoln Center I thought I would see what was available to hear or see. The Juilliard school of music is located at the Lincoln Center.

At noon in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church nearby there was a “Historical performance” by students from the Juilliard school. These young musicians, who come from all over the world look mostly in their 20s. They are however exceptionally talented and will likely go on to play in professional orchestras or even as professional soloists in the years ahead.

The concert was titled “Baroque Chamber Music from Italy”. Eight pieces were played, all by separate individual chamber groups playing on baroque early instruments. Some unknown and know composers. Costello, Leonarda, Buonamente, Corelli, Handel and Vivaldi. An amazingly uplifting hour of superbly played music by these young artists.

I took some video but it does not seem to be able to be posted on Blogger.
